Bokaro Lake was conceived in the same urban planning vision that produced City Park — a conscious attempt to give the steel township the amenities of a well-designed city rather than the purely functional infrastructure of an industrial workers' settlement. The lake sits at an intersection of residential sectors, close enough to the city centre to be walkable from the major hotels and easily accessible from any part of the township. The lake's promenade is the dominant feature — a paved walkway circling the water's edge, shaded by mature trees, with benches at regular intervals.
