Dhurwa Dam is a reservoir located just 8 km from Ranchi city centre in the Dhurwa industrial area, making it the closest major water body to the state capital. Built on a tributary of the Subarnarekha River system, the dam supplies water to Ranchi's southern districts and its reservoir has become a quiet leisure spot for residents of the Dhurwa and Hatia areas. The surrounding forested embankment is a regular morning walking and jogging destination for locals.

Dhurwa Dam occupies an unexpectedly serene pocket between the industrial township of Dhurwa and the residential areas of southern Ranchi.
